Special items

At Flair Airlines, we understand that some personal items require special handling to ensure they travel safely and securely. Whether you're bringing sports equipment, musical instruments, or fragile belongings, we've made it easy to bring your special items along for the journey. Please review the following guidelines to ensure smooth and hassle-free travel.

Sports equipment

We welcome your sporting gear, from skis and snowboards to bicycles and golf clubs. To ensure safe transport, please pack your sports equipment according to the guidelines below:

  • Bicycles: Must be packed in a hard case or box to protect them during the flight.
  • Skis/Snowboards: Must be in a suitable protective bag or case.
  • Golf clubs: Must be packed in a golf travel bag, which counts as one piece of checked luggage.

Note: Additional fees may apply for oversized items. Please check our baggage policy for more details.

Musical instruments

Bringing your instrument on board? Whether it's a guitar, violin, or a smaller instrument, we’ll do our best to accommodate it. Here’s what you need to know:

  • Carry-on: Seats may not be purchased for instruments. Small instruments may be stored in the cabin if they meet the size and weight requirements. All instruments must be stowed in the overhead compartment, under the seat or in other approved locations.
  • Checked baggage: Larger instruments must be checked and packed in a sturdy case. Overweight and oversize fees may apply.

Tip: Consider purchasing a dedicated musical instrument insurance policy for extra protection during travel.

Fragile items

To ensure the safe handling of fragile belongings like glassware, antiques, or electronics:

  • Proper packaging: Please pack fragile items securely in a durable, padded container.

Check-in: We recommend checking in fragile items as checked baggage. If you must carry them on, make sure they are properly wrapped and can fit within carry-on size limits.

Electronic devices and batteries

When travelling with electronic devices or spare batteries, it’s important to follow specific guidelines to ensure safety during the flight. Some items, such as lithium batteries, have particular restrictions for both carry-on and checked baggage. For more detailed information on the rules regarding electronic devices and battery transport, including guidelines for devices like laptops, tablets, and power banks, please visit our Electronic Devices and Battery Policy page.

Medical devices and assistive equipment

We are here to help with any medical needs. If you are travelling with mobility aids, medical devices, or oxygen tanks, please inform us in advance to ensure a smooth journey:

  • Oxygen tanks: Must meet specific guidelines and be pre-approved by Flair Airlines.
  • CPAP machines: Allowed as carry-on baggage. Please carry them in a protective case.

Wheelchairs: Can be checked in at no additional charge.

Perishable items

Flair Airlines does not accept liability for spoilage under any circumstances, including delays. Perishable items (such as floral products, fruit, meat, etc.) may be transported as part of your checked or carry-on baggage. However, improperly packaged items will not be accepted. All products must meet the specified weight and size guidelines.

Packaging requirements:

  • Items must be placed in a leak-proof container (e.g., a metal or plastic cooler) capable of withstanding shock, normal handling, vibration, temperature changes, and atmospheric pressure.
  • Styrofoam™ coolers are not permitted as checked baggage.
  • Packaging must be marked as “perishable” or “fragile” and include a directional “this side up” arrow.

Coolants:

  • Only approved coolants, such as gel packs or frozen vegetables, are allowed.
  • Perishable items cannot be packed with ice or brine.

By following these guidelines, you can ensure your perishable items are transported safely and comply with our policies.
